I stumbled across Noah’s Arc much later after it’s release in college. A refreshing show that showed a different perspective of gay black male friends through daily life, relationships, and society. Full of drama, comedy, and sex; Noah’s Arc was a groundbreaking show in history that lived ahead of it’s time.

Picture it, art school 2009 - at the time I was also modeling and found myself surrounded by the most beloved gay men who taught me so many beautiful things that introduced me to this show. Not knowing hands on too much about the gay community, but the black gay community (because there’s a hug difference) I was introduced to this show. I was hooked as It opened my eyes to a whole new world.

Regardless of their sexual orientation, it was very relatable. This show reminded me of my friends, not just the gay ones. They lived real lives and had the same relationship problems I did on top of family and society. It was HILARIOUS, like a gay girlfriends to a certain extent. The thing I loved most was there wasn’t one way to be black and gay. They are not all dancing flamboyant “queens”. Some are very masculine, in professional settings, and of course extremely creative.

I honestly feel like there has to be a way to make a show like this happen again. Most shows have the one black girl or the fun gay friends. This was the only shoe where gay black men had their own platform.

My favorite moments: The wedding spin-off set it off for me. It was like all 2 seasons came together in a beautiful cluster of “what the hell is going on” So juicy!

My favorite character: Definitely Alex. He just seemed to be the one to set everyone straight. Plus he is hilarious and the definition of EXTRA.

Random thoughts: Why are all of them so FINE! Ughhhhh Wade, Jesus lord

Where to watch: You can find both full seasons on Amazon Prime. Make sure you check this out, it’s Hood Approved √
